NZEC Newsletter – March 2022
Kia ora koutou from the NZEC team,
We hope this newsletter finds you and your families safe and well and you’ve had a great start to 2022. We know 2021 was a challenging year and 2022 is shaping up to be equally so. That’s why we’re delighted to share with you our case study below of a kiwi company showing resilience and innovation to make a breakthrough in the USA.
We are also proud to share with you news of a major milestone for us. New Zealand Export Credit (NZEC) is proud to have supported more than $4 billion of New Zealand exports since its establishment in 2001. This represents direct support to over 220 New Zealand businesses to establish and grow their exports into over 110 international markets.
We also announce a new International partner as part of our intention to help New Zealand exporters identify and access contract opportunities abroad.
Find out about some webinars we’ve been involved in and read some excellent Market Reports from our colleagues at New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).
All the while we are looking forward to supporting a wider range of New Zealand businesses this year, as we look to implement a more ambitious strategy in alignment with the Government’s economic priorities.

We are so delighted to share the story of PPE exporter Eagle Protect PBC and their breakthrough in the USA. NZEC is even more pleased that we could directly support them.

Welcoming new international partners
On 9 March 2022 NZEC and its United Arab Emirates counterpart, Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI) entered into a Memorandum of Arrangement.
The Memorandum of Arrangement will help formalise the relationship between NZEC and ECI and outlines a range of measures to cooperate with each other for the purpose of developing and strengthening their business relationship on the basis of equality, mutual benefit, respect and trust.
NZEC continues to explore other opportunities to collaborate with Export Credit Agencies, in order to help New Zealand exporters identify and access contract opportunities abroad.
Thanks to Matthew Hawkins (NZ Ambassador UAE), Massimo Falcioni, (CEO of ECI) and ECI for making it happen.
Webinars of interest
On 18 March NZEC were privileged to be on the panel with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and MFAT in a webinar to provide exporters and industry bodies with an opportunity to hear directly from MFAT on recent developments in relation to Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine.
MFAT also provide great insights on the potential impacts of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Read here https://lnkd.in/gJZCXAkq
This is also a timely reminder of how Trade Credit Insurance can protect exporters when selling into overseas markets.
Let us know if you or your industry body would benefit from NZEC presenting in similar webinars or workshops.
